Mobile Travel Applications

Mobile travel guide applications are electronic books that contain maps and details about destinations, attractions, hotels, climate conditions, public transportation systems, and local customs. These applications are downloaded directly from websites into a mobile phone’s memory, but Internet connectivity is not needed for one to be able to use them. Travellers can locate information instantly by searching for what they want to know using a keyword.

Mobile technologies such as the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) are some tools also available in cellphones that can help travellers. These provide users an efficient means of getting travel instructions for reaching their desired destinations.

A few travel guide software applications are available as free downloads, but most must be purchased. However, some websites will allow travellers to download a free trial before they actually commit to buying such applications.
